Description:

This presentation explores the application of Taoist philosophy and contemporary Gestalt Psychotherapy principles in clinical context. This presentation will provide a general overview of the history, chief constructs, and practical application of contemporary Gestalt Psychotherapy theory and Taoist philosophy, and will focus primarily on the experiential components of Gestalt work. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe and/or participate in a brief Gestalt demonstration. 


Learning Objectives:

This workshop is designed to help participants:

1) Identify the origins of and chief theoretical constructs in contemporary Gestalt Psychotherapy. 2) Describe the wheel of awareness in mindfulness meditation and compare its tenants to those of Gestalt Psychotherapy.

3) Apply Gestalt Psychotherapy principles to psychotherapeutic experiences.

4) Describe how to utilize present-focused interventions in treatment.
